Advantages of the Field and Highlights of the Program
School of International Trade and Economics (SITE) is one of the earliest schools that have international trade as a college program. It is one of the best schools in UIBE and one of the earliest Schools in China that started the international education program. SITE has many senior professors who are experts on policies and practices in international economics and trade of China, as well as many junior professors who got their Ph.D. degrees from overseas universities. The faculty perfectly combines theories with practice, Chinese characteristics with international standardized-knowledge, as well as traditional lecturing with modern teaching philosophy. It is worth mentioning that SITE has been working closely with Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) for a long time. The school provided a large amount of influential research reports on foreign trade and investment in China through MOFCOM.
One of the highlights of the SITE international education is the curricula setting that covers both internationalized field knowledge and practices in China. While teaching whole fundamentals in economics, international trade, and overseas investment, the program pays more attention to the application and practices of these theories. Specifically, a series of local courses are set for international students, such as General Outline of China, Economics Policy in China, Public Policy toward Business in China, Business Environment in China, Chinese Culture, Linguistics of Chinese Mandarin, etc. This ensures that international students inChina acquire globally-standardized field knowledge as in developed countries, and at the same time, get a deep understanding of the social, historical, cultural and economical development in China, which will equip them with greater advantages in the job markets of China as well as their home countries.
Another highlight of the SITE international education is the diversified teaching methods tailoring to international students from all over the world. International students are varied in educational background and Chinese Mandarin literacy. The admission standard and learning style for international students are also quite different from local students. In consideration of this, most courses, exclusive to international students, are taught by senior teachers with rich practical experience and young scholars with overseas Ph.D. degree and frontier field knowledge. This combination of the faculty is well-received by international students.
