Master of Finance (MF)

MF is a new degree-program initiated by the Ministry of Education in 2010. Compared to regular master’s programs, the requirement of the depth of understanding of fundamental theories is lower, while the curricula focuses more on knowledge and practical skills for operation in financial markets. MF is also a two-year program, but very different from regular mater programs, the first year is enough for students to complete most of the courses and the second year is then dedicated to real-world practice, internships, and graduation project design.

Advantages of the Field and Highlights of the Program

School of International Trade and Economics (SITE) is one of the earliest in China that started the international education program. SITE has many senior professors who are experts on policies and practices in China’s financial regimes, policies, and markets, as well as diversified alumni that work in the financial institutions and relevant government bureaus. Thus, the biggest highlight of this program at SITE is that, in the first year, students would get the best training in fundamental knowledge in finance through diversified teaching methods, including case studies, team projects, discussion with experts from the industry and relevant government bureaus, etc.; while in the second year, the great alumni would promise students to expand their experience in the real world and receive valuable and practical experiences through internships.

Another highlight of the SITE international education is the diversified teaching methods tailoring to international students from all over the world. International students are varied in educational background and Chinese Mandarin literacy. The admission standard and learning style for international students are also quite different from local students. In consideration of this, most courses, exclusive to international students, are taught by senior teachers with rich practical experience and young scholars with overseas Ph.D. degree and frontier field knowledge. This combination of the faculty is well-received by international students.
